Deputy Speaker of House of Representatives Mohamed Touimi Benjelloun Participates in the 30th Extraordinary Conference of the APU in Amman

Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Mohamed Touimi Benjelloun took part in the 30th extraordinary conference of the Arab Parliamentary Union (APU), held on February 8th in Amman, Jordan. The meeting was devoted to discussing the imposed unilateral initiative to solve the Palestinian case. It was chaired by Speaker of the APU and Jordan’s House of Representatives Atif Tarawneh, with the participation of Speakers and representatives of Arab Parliaments.

In his statement during the event, Mr. Touimi Benjelloun reaffirmed that the position of the Kingdom of Morocco, its King, government, and people, regarding the Palestinian case is irreversible, and that Moroccan people are pursuing their continuous support for the case in its entirety.

Mr. Touimi Benjelloun also recalled that the Kingdom of Morocco, whose sovereign HM King Mohammed VI may God assist him chairs Al Quds Committee under the OIC, has reiterated its commitment to Al Quds Call signed by HM the King and HH Pope Francis on March 30th, 2019. The call stresses the importance of granting people of all three monotheistic religions the freedom to access the holy sites within Al Quds Al-Sharif.

Additionally, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives confirmed that any unilateral proposal concerning the Palestinian case cannot be pursued as long as it ignores the views of the Arab, Palestinian, and Muslim peoples, and overlooks the resolutions of the Security Council and the UN charters.

The concluding statement of the conference confirms that Speakers and Representatives of Arab Parliaments prioritize the Palestinian case and consider the “deal of the century” a unilateral agreement that is not a step towards a fair and inclusive solution to the situation.

Besides, the concluding statement confirmed the refusal of the APU to any unfair solution that is not accepted by Palestinians and does not stipulate their historical right in building their independent state whose capital is Al Quds.

On the sidelines of the event, Mr. Mohamed Touimi Benjelloun held talks with Speakers of Arab Parliaments. The discussions revolved around supporting cooperative work between Arab Parliaments and promoting cooperation relations linking them.
