The African Regional Assembly of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Francophonie ratified on Friday, June 24, 2022, a recommendation presented by the Moroccan parliamentary delegation, where the latter expresses its concern regarding the terrorist and separatists threats arising in Africa and reiterates its strong commitment to the territorial integrity of the African States and the security of their peoples.
The APF's 28th African Regional Assembly, which took place in Rabat on June 23-24, 2022, concluded its works by paying tribute to His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, and commending the excellent organization of this session, hosted by the Moroccan Parliament.
In his address on this occasion, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami expressed his great satisfaction with the smooth running of the session. The latter tackled several essential themes, including democracy, the African Free-Trade Zone (ZLECAF), women's participation in the social, political, and economic life, the active involvement of parliamentarians in environmental and climate change questions, in addition to the political, social, and health situation in the French-speaking African countries.
The Speaker of the House emphasized the common fate of the French-speaking African countries, which requires "the consolidation of democratic values, the aspiration towards peace and stability, the advancement of women's status in Africa, a cleaner and durable environment, adequate health services, as well as a prosperous, united and flexible African economy within the framework of the ZLECAF."
M. Talbi El Alami also called for being a united influencing voice in the future, in harmony with African causes, especially given that the next APF Assembly will be held later this year in Kigali. In this respect, he noted that "Africa will remain a cornerstone for the francophone edifice."
