Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami, received on Monday, October 21, 2024, at the Seat of the House in Rabat, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Estonia, Mr. Margus Tsahkna, and his entourage, currently on a visit to the Kingdom of Morocco.
During the meeting, attended by the Ambassador of the Republic of Estonia to Rabat, residing in Portugal, H.E. Moonika Kase, and His Majesty's Ambassador to Finland and Estonia, residing in Helsinki, H.E. Mohamed Achgalou, the two parties commended the strong friendship bonds linking the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Estonia. They also shed light on the peculiarities of the parliamentary experiences of both countries and the links between powers, underscoring the importance of reinforcing parliamentary cooperation between the two legislative institutions and exchanging experiences and expertise in digitalization, open government, and cybersecurity.
The Estonian Foreign Affairs Minister, Mr. Margus Tsahkna, praised the profound cultural and historical ties uniting the two countries and noted that his country supports the Autonomy Plan presented by the Kingdom of Morocco in April 2007 to the Secretary-General of the United Nations as a good and reliable basis for a final solution to the question of the Moroccan Sahara.
For his part, the Speaker of the House of Representatives extended to the Estonian Official his thanks and appreciation for the position of the Republic of Estonia regarding the Autonomy Plan presented by the Kingdom of Morocco. Besides, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami seized the opportunity to highlight the manifestations of global development in the southern provinces, the democratic evolution in the Kingdom, and the major projects it has launched under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may Allah glorify and assist him.
Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami also added that the Kingdom is a leading country in peace, coexistence, and mutual respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of States. He also shed light on the diversity and depth of the Moroccan culture and its rich civilizational tributaries, adding that it has always been a crossroads of civilizations and a bridge that links the East to the West and Africa to Europe, and serves South-South Cooperation.
