Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami, received on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at the Seat of the House in Rabat, a parliamentary delegation from the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire, led by Mr. Koffi Kra, Chairperson of the Public Policy Evaluation Committee at the National Assembly of Côte d’Ivoire.
The delegation includes members of the National Assembly, the Senate, and civil society representatives in Côte d'Ivoire. Their visit to the Kingdom of Morocco, extending from September 23 to 27, 2024, falls within the scope of exchanging experiences and expertise between the legislative institutions of Morocco and Côte d'Ivoire, particularly regarding the Open Government Partnership Initiative.
On this occasion, the Speaker of the House of Representatives praised the excellent historical ties uniting the Kingdom of Morocco and Côte d'Ivoire under the command of the leaders of the two countries. He also expressed the strong will to continue reinforcing the cooperation ties between the two legislative institutions, strengthen consultation, and coordinate regarding themes of mutual concern.
The Speaker of the House also gave an overview of the profound reforms launched by the Kingdom of Morocco under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may Allah assist him, noting the novelties brought about by the 2011 Constitution, including the expansion of the prerogatives of the Parliament, reinforcing its role in public policy evaluation, and anchoring participatory democracy.
Besides, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami recalled the engagement of the House of Representatives in the Open Government Partnership Initiative since its start, shedding light on the various projects and programs that were realized in this respect, as part of the House’s keenness to disseminate the democratic and parliamentary culture, establish the proximity Parliament, reinforce openness to the public, engage citizens, and promote the culture of participation amongst the various social categories.
For his part, the Chairperson of the Public Policy Evaluation Committee at the National Assembly of Côte d’Ivoire, Mr. Koffi Kra, lauded the fruitful cooperation between the two countries in various areas, particularly at the parliamentary front.
He also congratulated the House of Representatives for its achievements under the Open Government Partnership Initiative and gave clarifications regarding the experience of Côte d’Ivoire in this field.
The parliamentary delegation of Côte d’Ivoire includes the members of the National Assembly, MP Sangaré Yacouba, MP Garou Antony, MP Kouamé Nguessan, MP Bah Rosine; and the members of the Senate, Sen. Kouadio Alyke, Sen. Ehui Koutoua Bernard, and Sen. Diaby Makani.
