Chairperson of the Foreign Affairs, National Defense, Islamic Affairs, and Moroccan Expatriates Committee, Rep. Salma Benaziz, received on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at the Seat of the House in Rabat, a delegation of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Danish Parliament, currently on a working visit to the Kingdom of Morocco.
During the reception, Rep. Salma Benaziz noted that this visit testifies to the desire of Morocco and Denmark to advance their cooperation in a way that fits their distinguished diplomatic relations. In the same respect, she noted the role of the Parliament in both countries in solidifying bilateral cooperation.
On this occasion, Rep. Salma Benaziz noted that this visit coincides with a particular national context marked by the celebration of the 25th Anniversary of the accession of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may Allah assist him, to the Throne of his glorious ancestors, and amidst a peculiar diplomatic context that features growing international support for the question of our territorial integrity and the autonomy proposal made by Morocco in 2007 to resolve the artificial conflict around the Moroccan Sahara.
The meeting was an opportunity for Rep. Salma Benaziz to discuss the modernization of the legal arsenal in our country and the major projects it has launched. In this regard, she added that thanks to the achievements it has made in recent years, the Kingdom enjoys the trust of its various partners around the globe, including Denmark.
In their interventions, the Committee members Rep. Nadia El Kansouri, Rep. Aicha El Gourgi, and Rep. Abdelali Brouki underscored the importance of the visit of the Danish parliamentary delegation in reinforcing cooperation links between Morocco and Denmark, particularly given the abundant investment opportunities our country offers in strategic fields like renewable energies and water.
For his part, MP Rasmus Prehn affirmed, on behalf of the Danish parliamentary delegation, that this visit, which falls within the scope of the new strategy of Denmark in Africa, aims to strengthen cooperation between the two countries and exchange experiences and expertise between them on various levels.
During the same meeting, attended by the Ambassador of Denmark to Morocco, H.E. Berit Basse, the members of the parliamentary delegation shed light on the most prominent bills currently under examination by the Danish Parliament and gave an overview of their country’s experience in renewable energies.
The Danish parliamentary delegation includes MP Rasmus Prehn (Social Democratic Party), MP Jeppe Søe (Independent), MP Kim Valentin (Liberal Party), MP Charlotte Munch (Denmark Democrats), MP Sascha Faxe (The Alternative), MP Jon Stephensen (Independent), MP Niklas Borker Bjerre (Independent), and MP Lis Grønnegård Rasmussen (Independent).
