Chairperson of the Foreign Affairs, National Defense, Islamic Affairs, and Moroccan Expatriates Committee, Rep. Salma Benaziz, held talks on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at the Seat of the House in Rabat, with the Chairperson of the Indonesia-Morocco Parliamentary Friendship Group, Rep. Aboe Bakar Al-Habsyi, currently on a working visit to the Kingdom of Morocco at the lead of a prominent parliamentary delegation representing the various political parties of the Indonesian House of Representatives.
At the onset of the meeting, Rep. Salma Benaziz praised the solid historical bonds uniting the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Indonesia, noting that this meeting reflects the desire of the legislative institutions of the two countries to advance bilateral cooperation at all levels.
Rep. Salma Benaziz also noted the great aspiration of the Moroccan House of Representatives to create a diplomatic dynamic between the Moroccan and Indonesian Parliaments at both the bilateral and multilateral levels.
On the same occasion, the Chairperson of the Foreign Affairs, National Defense, Islamic Affairs, and Moroccan Expatriates Committee shed light on the profound mutations the Kingdom has witnessed in recent years, as well as the major projects launched under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may Allah assist him, rendering the Kingdom a credible partner.
Besides, Rep. Salma Benaziz also made mention of the main principles on which revolves the foreign policy of the Kingdom, namely the respect of the sovereignty of States over their territories and non-interference in their internal affairs. In the same regard, she commended the steadfast commitment of the Republic of Indonesia to these principles.
During the same meeting, Rep. Salma Benaziz briefed the Indonesian parliamentary delegation on the Atlantic Initiative launched by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may Allah assist him, to enhance the access of the Sahel countries to the Atlantic. In the same context, she noted that said initiative is a chance to advance cooperation between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Indonesia in areas where the Kingdom has become pioneering, including renewable energies and car and aircraft manufacturing.
The meeting featured the participation of the Committee members: Rep. Nadia El Kansouri, Rep. Aicha El Gourgi, and Rep. Abdelali Brouki. In their interventions, the Representatives underscored the importance of intensifying cooperation between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Indonesia who share several traits.
The members of the Foreign Affairs, National Defense, Islamic Affairs, and Moroccan Expatriates Committee also gave extensive clarifications on the themes raised by the Indonesian parliamentary delegation, namely cultural cooperation between the two countries, countering terrorism, and human trafficking.
For his part, the Chairperson of the Indonesia-Morocco Parliamentary Friendship Group lauded the evolution of the bilateral ties linking the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Indonesia, particularly during the last five years at the commercial level. He also added that this visit is an occasion to strengthen and expand the scope of cooperation between the two countries in various areas.
The Indonesian parliamentary delegation includes, alongside the Chairperson of the Friendship Group, Rep. Vita Ervina, Rep. Mufti Aimah Nurul Anam, Rep. Wenny Haryanto, Rep. Djohar Arifin Husin, Rep. Maman Imanul Haq, Rep. Netty Prasetiyani, and Rep. Guspardi Gaus.
