Chairperson of the Public Finance Control Committee, Rep. Mohamed El Hejira, received on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at the Seat of the House in Rabat, the Chairperson of the Indonesia-Morocco Parliamentary Friendship Group, Rep. Aboe Bakar Al-Habsyi, currently on a working visit to the Kingdom at the lead of a prominent delegation representing the various political parties of the Indonesian House of Representatives.
During this meeting, Rep. Mohammed El Hejira praised the solid and excellent bonds linking the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Indonesia, which span more than 60 years and are based on genuine solidarity and convergence of views. He also added that this visit to our country represents an opportunity to confirm the strength of Moroccan-Indonesian relations and an expression of the will of the leaders of the two countries to promote them towards a broader horizon, especially since Indonesia plays an important international diplomatic role, both within the G20 and ASEAN and within the framework of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
Rep. Mohammed El Hejira also pointed out that this meeting is a historic moment to materialize the parliamentary friendship between the two brotherly countries and a substantial chance to exchange experiences and expertise and learn about the Moroccan experience in the fields of control and budgeting, which have evolved with the advent of the 2011 Constitution, on the basis of which the Public Finance Control Committee was created in 2014.
In this context, the Chairperson of the Public Finance Control Committee gave the members of the Indonesian parliamentary delegation an overview of the novelties brought by the Kingdom's 2011 Constitution, which expanded the powers of the House of Representatives in the field of legislation and government action control. He also explained the Committee's competencies, namely controlling and monitoring the government's public spending, examining the thematic reports of the Court of Accounts, and examining legislative texts related to public finance control.
In their interventions, the members of the Public Finance Control Committee who attended this meeting, Rep. Hamid Darrak, Rep. Abdellah Taia, Rep. Ahmed Brija, and Rep. Hussein Ait Oulhayane, emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries in various fields, especially in the parliamentary field and the consolidation of parliamentary diplomacy.
For his part, the Chairperson of the Indonesia-Morocco Parliamentary Friendship Group explained that the aim behind this visit is to exchange expertise and experiences between the Indonesian and Moroccan Parliaments.
The Indonesian parliamentary delegation includes, alongside the Chairperson of the Friendship Group, Rep. Vita Ervina, Rep. Mufti Aimah Nurul Anam, Rep. Wenny Haryanto, Rep. Djohar Arifin Husin, Rep. Maman Imanul Haq, Rep. Netty Prasetiyani, and Rep. Guspardi Gaus.
