A delegation of the Moroccan Parliament took part in the Committee meetings and the fifth plenary sitting under the Fourth Session of the Third Legislative Term of the Arab Parliament, held on July 11-13, 2024, in Cairo, the Arab Republic of Egypt.

The delegation is composed of:

  • Rep. Mohamed Ayyach (Group of the National Rally of Independents);

  • Rep. Khadija Hajjoubi (Group of Authenticity and Modernity);

  • Rep. Mohamed Lahmouch (Haraki Group - Popular Movement); and

  • Cllr. Mohamed El Bakkouri (Chairperson of the Group of the National Rally of Independents at the House of Councilors).

The participation of the Moroccan parliamentary delegation in the proceedings of the Committees featured the discussion of several important questions and the developments of the situation in the Arab scene. The meetings also featured the discussion of some guiding laws.

In this respect, Rep. Khadija Hajjoubi took part, as Vice-Chairperson of the Committee on Social, Educational, Cultural, Women, and Youth Affairs, in the proceedings of the Committee that discussed the mechanisms for implementing a recommendation to launch a paper for the development of education in the Arab world, issued in the Kingdom of Bahrain. The meeting also examined the draft parliamentary vision to set up a database of destroyed, stolen, tarnished, or disfigured Arab artifacts.

The participants also discussed the launch of a parliamentary paper for Arab women, the progress of the preparations to hold a conference on the protection of values in the Arab world, and the elaboration of a report on the social situation in the Arab world in 2023.

For his part, Rep. Mohamed Lahmouch took part in the proceedings of the Committee on Foreign, Political, and National Security Affairs. The Committee reviewed political and security developments in the Arab world and the current challenges facing the Arab region. The meetings also examined a draft comprehensive Arab vision to enhance security and stability in the Arab world and discussed a parliamentary plan to confront terrorist travel and criminalize their movement between Arab countries, as well as the role of the Arab Parliament in dealing with these challenges.

The Committee on Legislative, Legal, and Human Rights Affairs, in whose proceedings participated Rep. Mohamed Ayyach, discussed a draft indicative Arab law to combat the phenomenon of illegal migration in the Arab world and a draft indicative law to combat bullying.

The proceedings of the Committee on Economic and Financial Affairs focused on several topics, most notably the Arab strategy for entrepreneurship, as well as the Committee's activity report during the Fourth Session of the Third Legislative Term of the Arab Parliament.

The Fourth Session of the Third Legislative Term of the Arab Parliament will conclude with its fifth plenary sitting, where the report of the Palestine Committee, which includes two draft laws on the situation in Palestine and the situation of women in Palestine, will be presented. The sitting will also feature the presentation of the report of the Joint Committee on developing joint Arab action and activating its mechanisms, as well as the discussion and adoption of the reports of the four committees.

It is worth noting that this active Moroccan parliamentary presence in the activities of the Arab Parliament reflects the keenness of the Kingdom of Morocco to strengthen Arab cooperation and solidarity and to contribute constructively to efforts aimed at advancing the Arab nation in various fields.
