Reinforcing Parliamentary Cooperation at the Heart of the Talks between the Speaker of the House of Representatives and the Chairperson of the Chile-Morocco Parliamentary Friendship Group

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami, received on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at the Seat of the House in Rabat, the Chairperson of the Chile-Morocco Parliamentary Friendship Group, Mr. Jaime Naranjo Ortiz, currently on a working visit to the Kingdom of Morocco alongside members of the Group within the scope of reinforcing parliamentary cooperation between the two countries.

During the meeting, the two parties reviewed relations between the two countries in various areas, particularly at the parliamentary level. They also underscored the importance of intensifying bilateral and multilateral parliamentary coordination.

On this occasion, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami shed light on the significant projects and reforms launched by the Kingdom of Morocco under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may Allah assist him, in various areas, particularly as regards generalizing social protection, ameliorating infrastructure, renewable energies, heavy industries, in addition to the different manifestations of comprehensive and multidimensional development.

Besides, the Speaker of the House of Representatives gave an overview of the legislative institution, its formation, roles, and constitutional prerogatives. He also noted the importance of sharing experiences and expertise and intensifying bilateral and multilateral parliamentary coordination between the Moroccan House of Representatives and the Chilean Chamber of Deputies.

For his part, the Chairperson of the Chile-Morocco Parliamentary Friendship Group praised the strong ties linking the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Chile. He also added that the two countries enjoy an excellent geostrategic position and noted that Morocco is a gate to Africa and a role model in several areas.

The Chilean parliamentary delegation highlighted the aspects of cooperation between the two legislative institutions and the broad prospects of cooperation between the two countries in general in vital areas such as artificial intelligence, climate change, agriculture, tourism, economy, social and spatial development, and other questions of mutual parliamentary concern.

The delegation of the Chile-Morocco Parliamentary Friendship Group is composed of MP Carla Morales Maldonado, MP Catalina Del Real Mihovilovic, MP Cristian Moreira Barros, MP Juan Santana Castillo, MP Marcela Riquelme Aliaga, and MP Sofia Cid Versalovic.
