Chairperson of the Foreign Affairs Committee Holds Talks with First Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Malawi

The Chairperson of the Foreign Affairs, National Defense, Islamic Affairs, and Moroccan Expatriates Committee, Rep. Salma Benaziz, held talks on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at the Seat of the House in Rabat, with the First Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Malawi, Mr. Madalitso Kwaderanji Kazombo, currently leading a prominent parliamentary delegation on a working visit to the Kingdom.

The talks between the two parties covered the means to reinforce cooperation between the Moroccan House of Representatives and the National Assembly of the Republic of Malawi, in addition to several questions of mutual concern.

On this occasion, Rep. Salma Benaziz noted that this visit is an excellent opportunity to reinforce and solidify the cooperation ties between the two countries and their legislative institutions and to discuss several questions. She also noted that Morocco is a role model at the regional level thanks to the success it has achieved through the major projects launched in recent years under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may Allah assist him.

Besides, Rep. Salma Benaziz added that Morocco entertains partnership links with several countries of the world and aspires to diversify and expand the scope of these partnerships with the countries that respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Kingdom.

In their interventions, the members of the Bureau of the Foreign Affairs Committee praised the visit of the Malawian parliamentary delegation to the Kingdom, noting that it would contribute to reinforcing cooperation ties between the two countries and strengthen the friendship bonds between their peoples. In the same regard, they underscored the success of the African policy led by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may Allah assist him, which aims to anchor South-South cooperation and achieve development and prosperity in Africa.

For his part, the First Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Malawi noted that the visit is a milestone in strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two countries and their legislative institutions.

The meeting featured the participation of the Committee Bureau members: Rep. Nadia El Kansouri, Rep. Aicha El Gourgi, Rep. Abdelali Barouki, and Rep. Hatim Ben Rkia.

The Malawian side was composed of H.E. Kennedy Bisani Lweya, the Chargé d'affaires at the Embassy of the Republic of Malawi in Rabat, and the members of the National Assembly of the Republic of Malawi: MP Lilian Estella Patel, MP Georges Charles Zulu, MP Noah Freeman Chimpeni, MP Crispin Christopher Mphande, and some executives of the Assembly's Administration.
