In his address on behalf of the Moroccan parliamentary delegation to the 36th Conference of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union, the First Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rep. Mohamed Sabbari, underscored the state of fragmentation and the feeling of deception the Arab nation is feeling. In the same regard, he noted, “the Arab world has never witnessed such level of fragmentation in terms of scope, severity, or destructive impacts.”
On the same occasion, he shed light on the repercussions of the current Arab conditions on the positioning of the Arab community at the international level and their impacts on the Palestinian cause, noting that Palestinians in Gaza suffer the horrors of Israeli aggression, namely killings, destruction, offense against human dignity, and forced displacement. He also expressed his regret at the inaction of the international community, particularly the influencing powers, to stop this brutal Israeli aggression against Palestinians.
Besides, Rep. Mohamed Sabbari noted that Palestinians have been struggling for decades against the historical injustice imposed on them and today spill precious blood for their non-negotiable rights. He also underscored the statement of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may Allah assist him, in the 33rd Arab Summit in Manama, Bahrain, where His Majesty noted the difficult conditions the Palestinian cause is going through because of the atrocious Israeli aggression in Gaza, “which makes us more determined that the Palestinian cause is the core of establishing a lasting and just peace in the Middle East.” Rep. Sabbari also noted that peace and coexistence are significant elements of the Moroccan diplomatic credo and that the Kingdom of Morocco will always strongly support the Palestinian Cause.
The First Deputy Speaker of the House called for mobilizing political support for the Palestinian cause by unifying the Arab position and establishing an Arab environment and inter-Arab relations based on mutual respect, non-interference in the internal affairs of States, and respect for their sovereignty and territorial integrity. He also called for acting within the regional and international parliamentary fora to stop the aggression and end the blockade imposed on the Palestinian population, as well as mobilizing parliamentary support to build a durable and just peace in the region.
Besides the Palestinian cause, Rep. Mohamed Sabbari tackled the major challenges the Arab world faces, particularly the plans to dismantle some Arab States, the growing threat of terrorism, the increasing flows of migration, displacement, and asylum, climate change, and drought. In this context, he called for a radical renewal of the mechanisms of action of joint Arab action institutions and urged Arab Parliaments to innovate efficient solutions to utilize their potential, resources, and rich history to achieve the aspired prosperity.
