Speaker of the House of Representatives Holds Talks with First Deputy Speaker of the Czech Chamber of Deputies, MP Věra Kovářová

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami, held talks on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at the Seat of the House in Rabat, with the First Deputy Speaker of the Czech Chamber of Deputies, MP Věra Kovářová, currently on a working visit to the Kingdom of Morocco at the lead of an important parliamentary delegation including the Chairperson of the Committee on Agriculture, MP Michal Kučera, the Vice Chairperson of the Committee, Karel Smetana, and the Committee members, MP Ivan Adamec and MP Josef Kott.

During the meeting, the First Deputy Speaker of the Czech Chamber of Deputies reiterated her country's position in support of the autonomy initiative the Kingdom of Morocco presented as a solution to the artificial conflict over the Moroccan Sahara. She also praised the reforms conducted by the Kingdom under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may Allah glorify him. Besides, she underscored that the Kingdom of Morocco is a crucial partner to the Czech Republic in Africa and a role model in several areas.

For his part, the Speaker of the House of Representatives commended the quality of the historical ties linking the two friendly countries, praising the cooperation existing between their two legislative institutions through the exchange of visits between parliamentary delegations and under the scope of the Institutional Twinning Project uniting the Moroccan House of Representatives and several European Parliaments.

During their talks, the two parties also discussed the various manifestations of bilateral parliamentary cooperation and the common challenges, such as managing water scarcity, climate change, clean energies, agriculture, education, artificial intelligence, industry, and other themes of mutual concern.

The meeting was also an opportunity for the Deputy Speaker of the Czech Chamber of Deputies to renew her invitation to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami, to perform a working visit to the Czech Republic to reinforce parliamentary cooperation between the two countries.

The meeting featured the presence of Rep. Houssain Ben Taieb, Chairperson of the Morocco-Czech Parliamentary Friendship Group, and H.E. Ladislav Skerik, Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Rabat.
