Vienna: Moroccan Parliament Takes Part in 22nd Winter Session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the OSCE
A Moroccan parliamentary delegation is participating in the 22nd Winter Session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), hosted in Vienna on February 23-24, 2023, at the Hofburg Conference Center.
The delegation includes from the House of Representatives: Rep. Yassine Ouakacha (Group of the National Rally of Independents), Rep. Khalid Hatimi (Group of Authenticity and Modernity), and Rep. Maroua Al Ansari (Istiqlali Group of Unity and Egalitarianism). The delegation also includes members of the House of Councilors: Cllr. El Houcine Ouadmine (Group of the National Rally of Independents) and Cllr. Abdelkarim El Hams (Group of Authenticity and Modernity).
The Session features the intensive and high-level participation of several national parliamentary delegations, in addition to experts specializing in the questions related to the Session's themes.
The proceedings of the Session cover several timely and important questions in a global juncture characterized by the aggravation of crises and multiplicity of tension and conflict zones, such as renewable energies, the environment, as well as violations of human rights amidst crises, and the means to protect them.
On the sidelines of its participation, the Moroccan delegation held talks with the Vice-President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the OSCE and the Special Envoy of the Organization, Mr. Pascal Allizard, where the two parties stressed the vital importance of parliamentary diplomacy in addressing the challenges that face the countries of the Mediterranean.
Besides, the two parties called for consolidating and reinforcing effective and continuous parliamentary communication, exchanging expertise, and opening to the best practices and successful experiences. Moreover, they also noted the imperative of promoting efficient coordination between the Partner States of the Mediterranean as part of cooperation within the Parliamentary Assembly of OSCE on the important questions of mutual concern, which should be included in the agenda of the next Mediterranean Forum of the Organization.
