The members of the Morocco-Estonia Parliamentary Friendship Group at the House of Representatives held talks on Monday, January 30, 2023, with their Estonian counterparts, as part of the visit of the members of the Estonia-Morocco Parliamentary Friendship Group to the Moroccan Parliament, which included several meetings.
On the Moroccan side, the meeting was attended by the Chairperson of the Morocco-Estonia Parliamentary Friendship Group, Rep. Chafika Lachraf, Rep. Zina Chahim, Rep. Abdennebi Aidoudi, Rep. Mohamed Chrourou, and Rep. Lahoucine Azougagh.
The Estonian side was represented by the Chairperson of the Estonia-Morocco Parliamentary Friendship Group, Mr. Raivo Tamm, and the Group members: Mr. Sven Sester and Mr. Toomas Kivimägi.
During the meeting, the Estonian delegation expressed satisfaction with being in the Kingdom of Morocco, lauding the creation of the Morocco-Estonia Parliamentary Friendship Group. In the same respect, they commended the work of the Group, characterized by good quality despite the geographical distance. Besides, the Head of the Estonian delegation stressed the imperative of giving new impetus to the relations between Estonia and the Kingdom of Morocco, especially since the latter is the closest country to the European Union.
For her part, the Chairperson of the Morocco-Estonia Parliamentary Friendship Group noted her hope that the meeting would contribute to constructing cooperation bridges between the two legislative institutions and the two countries.
Moreover, the meeting allowed the two parties to express their desire to uplift relations between the two countries by bringing points of view closer and conducting further talks on several regional and international questions of mutual concern.
The Estonian delegation seized the opportunity to reiterate the support of their country to the territorial integrity of the Kingdom, while the Moroccan side invited the Estonian parliamentarians to perform a visit to the Southern provinces, particularly the cities of Laayoune and Dakhla, in order to witness the development they have known.
The two parties also agreed on the importance of reinforcing economic exchange between the two countries, expressing their desire to grow commercial exchanges and widen the scope of cooperation to cover culture, education, and the economy.
