Speaker of the House of Representatives Receives Minister of Foreign Affairs of Togolese Republic

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami received on Thursday, January 12, 2023, at the seat of the House, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and Togolese Abroad, Mr. Robert Dussey, who is currently on a working visit to the Kingdom of Morocco. 

The meeting was an opportunity to exchange views on the means to reinforce ties between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Togolese Republic, especially at the parliamentary level. The two parties also discussed several questions of mutual concern and underscored the vital role of the legislative institutions and parliamentarians of the two countries in consolidating constant and effective communication.

On occasion, the Togolese Minister of Foreign Affairs expressed his pride in the quality of political ties between the two countries. In the same respect, he expressed his country's determination to strengthen its bonds with the Kingdom of Morocco at the parliamentary level through the exchange of experiences and expertise in the areas of legislation, control, evaluation of public policies, external relations, and parliamentary diplomacy.

For his part, the Speaker of the House of Representatives commended the depth of relations between the two countries. In the same vein, he lauded the constant position of the Togolese Republic with regard to the territorial integrity of the Kingdom, commending its decision to open a general consulate in Dakhla in July 2022.

Besides, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami shed light on the achievements of the Kingdom of Morocco under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may Allah glorify him. On the same occasion, the Speaker gave a brief overview of the 2011 Constitution of the Kingdom of Morocco, the electoral system, the prerogatives, and the formation of the House of Representatives, in addition to the latter's working methods and relations with the other institutions and branches.

The talks between the Speaker of the House of Representatives and the Togolese Minister of Foreign Affairs were also an opportunity to exchange views on several regional and international questions inscribed as priorities on the bilateral and multilateral parliamentary agenda, such as migration, climate change, renewable energies, and digital transition.
