Speaker of the House of Representatives Receives Egyptian Foreign Affairs Minister

Morocco-Egypt parliamentary coordination and joint action are key levers for the bilateral and multilateral ties.

Speaker of the House of Representatives Rachid Talbi El Alami received on Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at the House, the Foreign Affairs Minister of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Mr. Sameh Choukry, currently on a working visit to the Kingdom of Morocco with an important delegation.

At the onset of the meeting, Mr. Rachid Talbi El Alami welcomed the Egyptian Foreign Affairs Minister and his entourage. In this respect, he expressed his esteem and pride at this meeting, which is an opportunity to communicate and discuss several questions relating to the Morocco-Egypt parliamentary, bilateral and multilateral ties. The Speaker of the House of Representatives highlighted the strength of the bonds linking the Kingdom of Morocco and the Arab Republic of Egypt, stressing the centrality of the bilateral and multilateral parliamentary ties, which have been consolidated through coordination and continuous consultation with the Egyptian counterparts.

For his part, the Egyptian Foreign Affairs Minister, Mr. Sameh Choukry thanked the Speaker of the House for the warm reception. He also noted the deep-rooted relations between the two countries throughout history and at various levels. In the same vein, he expressed his hope to promote them at the economic, commercial, and investment levels, adding that coordination and joint parliamentary action are a key factor in giving special dynamics to the Morocco-Egypt ties.

In his talks with the Speaker of the House of Representatives, the Egyptian Foreign Affairs Minister also stressed the importance of coordination and exchange of views on several questions inscribed as priorities to the bilateral and multilateral relations, especially ones that regard development, investment, security, stability, climate change, renewable energies, and the roles of parliaments at the national, continental and international levels in dealing with such questions.

The reception by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Rachid Talbi El Alami, of the Egyptian Foreign Affairs Minister, Mr. Sameh Choukry, was also an opportunity to discuss and exchange views on several matters of mutual concern.
