Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami, received on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at the Seat of the House in Rabat, a high-level delegation of the Legislative Assembly of Transition in Burkina Faso, currently on a working visit to our country.
At the onset of the meeting, the Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of Transition, Mr. Daouda Dialou, extended, on behalf of the Burkinabe parliamentary delegation, the condolences and solidarity of his country with the Moroccan people, following the earthquake that struck the Kingdom on September 8. In the same regard, he commended the wise management of this calamity under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may Allah glorify him.
Mr. Daouda Dialo also reiterated the unwavering position of Burkina Faso with regard to the Moroccan Sahara and its support for the territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Morocco. In the same respect, he recalled that his country inaugurated in October 2020 a consulate in the city of Dakhla.
Besides, Mr. Daouda Dialou commended the tenor of the Royal speech given by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may Allah glorify him, on the occasion of the 48th Anniversary of the Green March, where His Majesty proposed “the launch of an international initiative to enable the Sahel countries to have access to the Atlantic Ocean,” and underscored “Morocco’s willingness to put its road, port, and rail infrastructure at the disposal of these sister countries.”
For his part, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami, noted the readiness of the House of Representatives to consolidate cooperation ties with the Legislative Assembly of Transition in Burkina Faso, share its experience, and regularly cooperate with it at all levels.
On the same occasion, the Speaker of the House gave an overview of the competences conferred by the Moroccan Constitution to the Parliament, particularly with regard to the examination of finance bills, Government control, and evaluation of public policies. In the same vein, he also shed light on the 60-year-long Moroccan parliamentary experience.
The meeting was attended by the Chairperson of the Morocco-Burkina Faso Parliamentary Friendship Group, Rep. Ibrahim Bendidi, and the Ambassador of the Republic of Burkina Faso to Rabat, H.E. Mamadou Coulibaly.
