Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami held talks on Thursday, January 12, 2023, at the seat of the House, with the Chairperson of the Forum for Africa in the National Assemblyof South Korea, Mr. Sul Hoon, who is currently on a working visit to the Kingdom at the head a prominent parliamentary delegation.
The encounter was an opportunity where the two parties discussed the distinguished ties between the legislative institutions of the two countries, and the importance of parliamentary diplomacy in consolidating their economic and cultural relations.
On occasion, the Chairperson of the Forum for Africa in the Korean National Assembly praised the historical links between the two countries. He also noted that South Korea considers the Kingdom of Morocco a gate to Africa, adding that both countries share the same values of democracy and economic freedom.
Besides, Mr. Sul Hoon stressed the importance of parliamentary diplomacy in advancing bilateral ties at all levels. He also underlined that his visit alongside the Korean parliamentary delegation is part of preparations for the Korean-African Forum, which aims to reinforce the cooperation ties with the Kingdom of Morocco, and through it, with other African countries. In the same context, he highlighted the desire of several Korean companies to invest in the Kingdom of Morocco.
For his part, the Speaker of the House of Representatives praised the depth of the historical ties linking the two countries, and lauded the favorable position of South Korea with regard to the territorial integrity of the Kingdom. In the same vein, he underscored that African countries should benefit from the successful Korean model in technologies and education.
On the same occasion, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami highlighted the great opportunities and potential for investment in the Kingdom of Morocco, specifically noting the Kingdom's stability and its strategic positioning as a link between Africa and Europe, in addition to the advantages it offers to investors.
The talks were also attended by the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to the Kingdom of Morocco, H.E. Chung Keeyong, and the rest of the Korean delegation: MP. Jun Hye-sook, MP. Lee Hun-seung, and MP. Lee Won-wook.
