Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami received on Monday, January 30, 2023, at the seat of the House, the Chairperson of the Estonia-Morocco Parliamentary Friendship Group, Mr. Raivo Tamm, currently on a working visit to the Kingdom of Morocco at the head of a high-level parliamentary delegation.
During the meeting, the two parties praised the strong friendship bonds linking the Kingdom of Morocco and Estonia, stressing the importance of solidifying parliamentary cooperation between the two legislative institutions and advancing commercial and economic exchange between the two countries.
On occasion, the Chairperson of the Estonia-Morocco Parliamentary Friendship Group, Mr. Raivo Tamm, commended the historical and cultural ties uniting the two countries, noting that the Kingdom of Morocco is one of the favorite tourism destinations for Estonians. Besides, he added that his visit to the Kingdom, alongside his entourage, would contribute to the consolidation of parliamentary cooperation between the two countries, especially since the Friendship Group between the Estonian Parliament and its Moroccan counterpart is the first of its kind.
Moreover, Mr. Raivo Tamm underscored the support of the Republic of Estonia to the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Kingdom of Morocco, adding that the Kingdom of Morocco occupies a distinguished position for Estonians, who cherish good memories of it thanks to the artworks of the famous Estonian painter, Eduard Wiiralt, who lived in the Kingdom in the 1930s.
For his part, the Speaker of the House of Representatives stressed the importance of parliamentary diplomacy in uplifting bilateral ties between the two countries in various areas, especially in economy and trade. In the same respect, he shed light on the aspects of extensive development and democratic evolution of the Kingdom of Morocco under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may Allah glorify and assist him.
During the same meeting, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami highlighted that the Kingdom of Morocco is a pioneering country in peace, coexistence, and mutual respect for the sovereignty of States and their territorial integrity. In the same vein, he noted the diversity and depth of the Moroccan culture with its rich civilizational tributaries. The Speaker added that the Kingdom of Morocco has always been a crossroads of civilizations, a bridge between the east and the west, Africa and Europe, and a platform for South-South Cooperation.
