Speaker of House of Representatives Receives British Ambassador to Morocco

Speaker of House of Representatives Habib El Malki received on Wednesday, August 5th, 2020, at the House’s headquarters, British Ambassador to Morocco Thomas Reilly, upon the end of his diplomatic duties in the Kingdom.

On this occasion, the two parties expressed their satisfaction with the remarkable development of cooperation ties between the legislative institutions of the two countries in recent years. In this respect, the Ambassador noted the existence of favorable opportunities and promising prospects that should be utilized to advance relations between the two countries at different levels, including the parliamentary field.

Besides, Mr. Thomas Reilly praised Morocco’s dynamism and the strength of its institutions. He said that “His Majesty King Mohammed VI is leading the Kingdom wisely on the path towards prosperity and development.” He also called for strengthening the cooperation ties linking Morocco to the United Kingdom in the educational, cultural, and social fields as they are essential pillars for the evolvement of bilateral ties in other areas.

For his part, the Speaker of the House of Representatives commended the various initiatives undertaken in recent years to strengthen cooperation ties between the two legislative institutions of the two countries. In this context, he particularly noted the exchange of visits between parliamentary delegations of both countries and the distinct partnership between the House of Representatives and the Westminster Foundation for Democracy.

Mr. El Malki also highlighted that the regular discussions between Moroccan and British officials reflect the strong will of the two countries to develop their bilateral relations towards a wider scope of cooperation and convergence.
