Speaker of the House of Representatives Receives Azerbaijani Ombudsman

Speaker of the House of Representatives Rachid Talbi El Alami received on Thursday, March 31, 2022, at the House, the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Republic of Azerbaijan (Ombudsman), Ms. Aliyeva Sabina, currently on a visit to the Kingdom of Morocco.

During the meeting, Mr. Rachid Talbi El Alami lauded the good relations linking the Kingdom of Morocco to the Republic of Azerbaijan in various areas. On the same occasion, the Speaker recalled the gains achieved by our country in the areas of human rights and transitional justice.

On another note, the Speaker of the House presented to the Azerbaijani Official the main prerogatives of the House of Representatives in the areas of legislation, control and scrutiny, and evaluation of public policies. He also highlighted the House's relations with several institutions as provided for in the 2011 Constitution.

As concerns the cause of our territorial integrity, Mr. Talbi El Alami reiterated his praise for the positive and unwavering position of the Republic of Azerbaijan regarding the artificial conflict around the Moroccan Sahara.

For her part, Ms. Sabina Aliyeva gave a brief overview of the Ombudsman Institution in the Republic of Azerbaijan and its missions. In this respect, she presented to the Speaker of the House of Representatives a copy of the latest report of the institution on human rights.

It should be noted that Ms. Sabina Aliyeva took part in the meeting of the members of the OIC Ombudsman Association, which took place at the seat of Al-Wassit (the Mediator of the Kingdom) in Rabat, on March 29-30, 2022.
