The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Habib El Malki, held talks on Tuesday in Rabat with Colombia's ambassador to Morocco, María del Pilar Gómez, paying courtesy visit following her appointment as a Colombian ambassador in Rabat.
On this occasion, The Speaker of the House of Representative said that relations between the two countries have been dynamic in recent years, noting that they share the same values of democracy, security and stability, the House of Representatives stressed in a statement.
The speaker of the House of Representatives praised the Colombian position on the issue of the territorial integrity of the Kingdom, describing it as "very positive and forward-looking".
In this regard, El Malki referred to the adoption by the Colombian Congress, in 2018, of a motion in favor of the Moroccan autonomy initiative, as a definitive solution to the artificial conflict over the Moroccan Sahara.
For her part, The Ambassador noted that Colombia attaches great importance to its relations with the Kingdom, adding that bilateral relations, which date back some 40 years, based on mutual respect and good cooperation.
In this sense, the Colombian diplomat reviewed the various agreements concluded by the two countries, particularly in the sectors of culture and tourism.
She also stressed that her country takes a clear position on the issue of Moroccan Sahara and supports the autonomy proposal within the framework of the Kingdom's sovereignty, as a definitive solution to this conflict.
