Speaker of House of Representatives Meets Speaker of Saudi Shura Council

Speaker of House of Representatives Habib El Malki held talks, Monday, February 24th at the House's headquarters, with Speaker of Saudi Shura Council (Consultative Assembly) Abdullah ibn Muhammad ibn Ibrahim Al ash-Sheikh, currently on working and fraternity visit to Morocco alongside an important delegation.

During the meeting, attended by the Ambassador of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Morocco, Speaker of the House of Representatives lauded the distinguished ties linking the Kingdom of Morocco and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, marked by mutual respect and sincere fraternity. He also commended the strong relations between HM King Mohammed VI and the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman Ben Abdelaziz Al Saoud.

Besides, Mr. El Malki praised the position of Saudi Arabia in favor of Morocco's territorial integrity, and its perpetual solidarity. In this respect, he said, "We thank you for your frank and permanent support on both regional and international levels regarding our Kingdom's territorial integrity. We also thank you for your support of the autonomy initiative as a final solution to the artificial conflict over the Moroccan Sahara."

Additionally, the House's Speaker called for consolidating economic and commercial exchanges between the two countries, highlighting the diverse and enormous opportunities for cooperation. He also stressed the importance of solidifying the aerial and maritime links between the two countries.

As for Parliament, Mr. El Malki noted the excellent ties linking both countries' legislative institutions and the regular visits of parliamentarians from both countries. In the same respect, he added that "parliamentary diplomacy plays an important role in consolidating relations between the two countries, giving new impetus to relations between the Arab States in general, and restoring confidence among them to face the 21st-century challenges."

For his part, Speaker of the Saudi Shura Council noted the importance of reinforcing cooperation between the two countries, to reflect the strong ties linking their officials and peoples. In this context, he stated that "relations between the two Kingdoms are deep-rooted on all levels, and we are keen to develop them further."

Mr. Abdullah ibn Muhammad ibn Ibrahim Al ash-Sheikh shed light on the enormous opportunities to reinforce tourism exchange, noting that the Kingdom of Morocco encloses high tourism assets that attract Saudi tourists as part of "family tourism."

Also, Speaker of Saudi Shura Council Abdullah ibn Muhammad ibn Ibrahim Al ash-Sheikh invited Speaker of House of Representatives Habib El Malki to perform a working visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The visit would be an occasion to institutionalize relations between the two institutions by concluding a memorandum of cooperation between them.
