Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami, held talks on Friday, March 3, 2023, at the seat of the House in Rabat, with the Speaker of the Senate of the Kingdom of Eswatini, Hon. Lindiwe Dlamini, currently on an official visit to our country at the head of an important delegation.
On this occasion, the two parties praised the strong and distinguished friendship ties linking the two countries. They also noted their mutual keenness to reinforce parliamentary cooperation between the legislative institutions of the two countries.
During the meeting, the Speaker of the Senate of the Kingdom of Eswatini lauded the strong engagement of the Moroccan Parliament in defending the causes of Africa, especially in migration, human rights, and cultural and civilizational diversity. She also commended the policies of the Kingdom of Morocco with regard to advancing women’s conditions and gender equality.
On the same occasion, Hon. Lindiwe Dlamini stressed the importance of exchanging experiences and expertise with the Moroccan Parliament and benefitting from its best practices at the legislative, administrative, and technical levels. In the same respect, she hailed the depth and evolution of Moroccan parliamentary practices.
For his part, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami, praised the position of the Kingdom of Eswatini in favor of the territorial integrity of the Kingdom. He also underscored the African depth of the Kingdom of Morocco and its strong engagement in consolidating South-South Cooperation, particularly at the African level, under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God glorify him.
Moreover, the Speaker of the House gave a brief overview of the prerogatives and formation of the House of Representatives, the peculiarities of the Moroccan parliamentary bicameral system, and the relations of the House of Representatives with the other constitutional institutions, in addition to other themes. The Speaker also expressed the House’s readiness to share its experience and expertise with the Parliament of the Kingdom of Eswatini in parliamentary action, digitalization, and parliamentary management.
