Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami, held talks on Monday, September 18, 2023, at the seat of the House in Rabat, with the Speaker of the National Assembly of the United Republic of Tanzania, Hon. Tulia Ackson, currently on a working visit to the Kingdom of Morocco on September 15-19, where she will hold other talks and perform field visits to explore the major projects launched by the Kingdom of Morocco under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may Allah glorify him.
At the outset of the meeting, attended by the Chairperson of the Morocco-Tanzania Parliamentary Friendship Group, Rep. Abdennour Hasnaoui, Hon. Tulia Ackson conveyed her heartfelt condolences to the Moroccan people following the earthquake that struck some regions of our country on September 8. In the same regard, she expressed the solidarity of Tanzania with Morocco in this distress, lauding the great role played by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may Allah glorify him, in mobilizing the different components of the Moroccan people in the face of this natural disaster and its impacts.
During the talks, the Speaker of the House of Representatives and his Tanzanian counterpart tackled several questions of mutual concern, particularly the consolidation of parliamentary cooperation between the two legislative institutions through activating their two parliamentary friendship groups and exchanging visits.
The talks between the two parties also covered cooperation in agriculture. In this regard, Hon. Tulia Ackson highlighted the desire of her country to benefit from the Moroccan experience in this vital field. She also called Moroccan investors to invest in Tanzania, given the potential it encloses.
Besides, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami underscored the leading role of the Kingdom of Morocco in developing Africa and encouraging investments in it through the African policy adopted by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may Allah glorify him, on the basis of South-South cooperation.
At the end of the meeting, Hon. Tulia Ackson formally invited Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami to visit the United Republic of Tanzania to advance bilateral parliamentary cooperation between the two friendly countries.
