Speaker of the House of Representatives Holds Talks with Speaker of the National Assembly of Quebec

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami, received on Thursday, March 2, 2023, at the seat of the House in Rabat, the Speaker of the National Assembly of Quebec, Hon. Nathalie Roy, and her entourage, on the sidelines of their participation in the meetings of the Network of Women Parliamentarians and the Committee on Parliamentary Affairs under the Parliamentary Assembly of the Francophonie, hosted by the Moroccan Parliament on March 1-3, 2023.

During the meeting, the Speakers of the Moroccan House of Representatives and the National Assembly of Quebec praised the achievements in relations between the two institutions and the ones of the Joint Parliamentary Committee, in addition to the outcomes of the latter's successive sessions. Such outcomes have enabled the consolidation of ties and coordination in several areas, mainly migration, security, fight against terrorism, digital transition, climate change, protection of the environment, green economy, commercial exchange, investment, tourism, scientific research, education, schooling, women's affairs, and cultural and linguistic diversity.

The two parties also stressed the importance of pursuing parliamentary coordination through the convention of the Joint Parliamentary Committee at the earliest convenience, constant consultation at the regional, continental, and international levels, and the exchange of parliamentary experiences and expertise. They also noted the imperative of considering the creation of new and innovative dialogue spaces to build on the gains and open to further timely questions of bilateral and multilateral parliamentary priority.

The meeting was also an opportunity to shed light on the parliamentary experience of the House of Representatives and the National Assembly of Quebec, and to discuss several regional and international questions that require joint parliamentary action.
