Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami held talks, on Wednesday, November 30, 2022, with the Rapporteur of the Group of the European People's Party at the European Parliament on the Kingdom of Morocco, MP. Andrey Kovatchev, currently on a visit to the Kingdom fromNovember 29 to December 1, 2022.
During their meeting, the two parties discussed the horizons of the Morocco-Europe ties and the importance of solidifying the cooperation and friendship bonds linking the Moroccan and European Parliaments to address the various challenges, like migration. The two parties also exchanged views on several regional and international questions of mutual concern.
On the same occasion, the Speaker of the House of Representatives shed light on the development achieved by the Kingdom of Morocco in consolidating democracy, promoting human rights, digital transition, renewable energies, managing Covid-19 and its repercussions, and working towards the promotion of regional and global security and stability, under the high directives of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may Allah glorify him.
Besides, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami seized the opportunity to apprise the European official of the historical roots and developments of the Kingdom’s territorial integrity. In this respect, the Speaker of the House noted the international support and endorsement the autonomy plan proposed by the Kingdom of Morocco enjoys, given that it is the only plausiblesolution to the artificial conflict around the Moroccan Sahara.
For his part, MP. Andrey Kovatchev noted that the Kingdom of Morocco is a prominent and distinguished partner to the European Union, lauding the efforts it deploys to establish peace and stability in the Sahel-Sahara region.
The meeting featured the presence of the Chairperson of the Morocco-European Union Joint Parliamentary Committee, Cllr. Lahcen Haddad, and its members: Rep. Hicham Ait Menna, Rep. Abdelmajid El Fassi Fihri, and Rep. Zaina Chahim.
