Speaker of the House of Representatives Holds Talks with Parliamentary Delegation from the Republic of Uruguay

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami held talks on Monday, February 20, 2023, at the seat of the House in Rabat, with a parliamentary delegation from the Senate of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay, headed by the Deputy Speaker of the Senate and Chairperson of the Uruguay-Morocco Parliamentary Friendship Group, Mr. Jorge Gandini.

The talks between the two parties covered the means to consolidate parliamentary cooperation between the two countries through institutionalizing bilateral and multilateral ties linking the two legislative institutions via the parliamentary friendship group, the regional and international parliamentary fora, efficient communication, exchange of visits, and consideration of spaces for continuous South-South dialogue, and the exchange of experiences and expertise.

The two parties also stressed the importance of respecting the territorial integrity and sovereignty of States and non-interference in their internal affairs.

The reception was an opportunity for the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami, and the Uruguayan parliamentary delegation to discuss questions of mutual parliamentary concern, the situation at the regional and international scenes, and the roles of parliaments and parliamentarians in reinforcing world peace and security and achieving development in all its dimensions.

The parliamentary delegation of the Senate of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay comprises Mr. Jorge Gandini, the Head of the Delegation, Deputy Speaker of the Uruguayan Senate and Chairperson of the Uruguay-Morocco Parliamentary Friendship Group; Mr. Germán Coutinho and Mr. Varela Carlos, the Vice-Chairs of the Group; in addition to the members of the Group: Mr. Raúl Lozano, Ms. Nancy Núñez, Mr. Nicolás Viera, Mr. Luis Gallo, Mr. Alvaro Viviano, Mr. Iván Posada, Mr. Daniel Peña.
