Speaker of the House of Representatives Rachid Talbi El Alami held talks on Friday, March 11, 2022, at the House, with the Mauritanian Prime Minister, H.E. Mohamed Ould Bilal Messoud, currently on an official visit to our country at the head of an important delegation as part of the 8th session of the Morocco-Mauritania High Joint Commission.
During this meeting, the Mauritanian Prime Minister lauded the outcomes of the 8th session of the Morocco-Mauritania High Joint Commission. In this respect, he stated, "We have made great efforts today, and there is good understanding between the two parties in all areas. We are keen to keep cooperating."
H.E. Mohamed Ould Bilal Messoud affirmed the strength of the bonds linking the Moroccan and Mauritanian peoples. In the same respect, he expressed his country's strong will to move forward in consolidating cooperation between the two countries in different areas and levels "in a way that reflects the aspirations of the two brotherly peoples."
For his part, the Speaker of the House of Representatives stressed the importance of continued coordination and consultation between the two parties at the parliamentary level. He also highlighted his desire to meet and hold talks with the Speaker of the Mauritanian National Assembly at the earliest convenience.
Furthermore, the Speaker added that the House of Representatives foresees advancing the bilateral and multilateral parliamentary ties towards the highest levels through the Morocco-Mauritania parliamentary friendship group. On this matter, he noted, "The group will undertake the mission of seeking ways to promote the relations between the two legislative institutions and countries towards broader horizons of cooperation and solidarity."
On this occasion, Mr. Rachid Talbi El Alami gave an overview of the roles of the Moroccan House of Representatives and its gains at the regional, continental and international levels. He also expressed his desire to consolidate the coordination of efforts with the Mauritanian National Assembly on the occasion of the assumption by the House of Representatives of the Presidency of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union for the Mediterranean in April 2022.
The meeting was also attended by Mr. Younes Sekkouri, the Minister of Economic Inclusion, Small Enterprises, Employment and Skills; the Hon. Mohamed Ould Hanani, the Mauritanian Ambassador to the Kingdom of Morocco; and members of the cabinets of the Mauritanian Prime Minister and the Speaker of the House of Representatives
