Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami received, on Friday, December 2, 2022, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Hungary, Mr. Zsolt Semjén, currently on a working visit to the Kingdom of Morocco.
The talks between the two parties focused on parliamentary questions of mutual concern, the quality of bilateral relations, and the means to advance them by exploring newer areas that are priorities to the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Hungary, such as renewable energies, digital transition, health, and migration. Besides, the two parties stressed the pivotal role of legislative institutions and parliamentarians in defining promising lines for bilateral and multilateral ties and unifying and coordinating positions.
At the start of the meeting, the Hungarian Deputy Prime Minister congratulated the Moroccan people for the remarkable results of the Moroccan National Team in the 2022 Qatar World Cup. The Hungarian Official also commended the excellent bilateral and multilateral bonds linking the Kingdom of Morocco to the Republic of Hungary, which have advanced significantly in the last decade thanks to the initiatives aimed at their consolidation, and the coordination and consultation on the questions of mutual concern.
Concerning the question of the Moroccan Sahara, the Hungarian Deputy Prime Minister reiterated his country's support for the territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Morocco in the various international fora, noting that the Kingdom of Morocco is a country characterized by stability and peace and is a role model in several areas.
Additionally, Mr. Zsolt Semjén highlighted that the ties between the two countries have significantly evolved through the consolidation of their political, economic, cultural, and scientific aspects, and the intensification of bilateral cooperation via continuous dialogue and consultation concerning the shared interests of the two countries.
For his part, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami gave an overview of the achievements of the Kingdom of Morocco, and the projects it launched in digital transition, renewable energies, social and health protection, and migration under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may Allah glorify him, which have enabled the Kingdom to occupy a distinguished position at the international and regional levels.
Moreover, the Speaker of the House commended the distinguished ties linking the two countries, underscoring that Rabat and Budapest have leading experiences and shared history. In the same regard, he noted that the House of Representatives is open to all initiatives aimed to support its relations with the Hungarian National Assembly in order to uplift relations between the two countries towards higher levels that enable interaction with the questions inscribed as priorities on the international parliamentary agenda.
It should be noted that the Ambassador of the Republic of Hungary to the Kingdom of Morocco, H.E. Miklós Tromler, also attended the meeting.
