Speaker of the House of Representatives Holds Talks with Guatemalan Minister of Foreign Affairs

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami, received on Tuesday, November 29, 2022, at theseat of the House in Rabat, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Guatemala, Mr. Mario Adolfo Búcaro Flores, currently on a visit to our country. 

The talks between the two parties, attended by the Ambassador of the Republic of Guatemala to Rabat, H.E. Erick Estuardo Escobedo Ayala, covered the means to strengthen bilateral cooperation between the two countries and several questions of mutual concern. 

On this occasion, the Speaker of the House of Representatives commended the quality of ties linking the two friendly countries at all levels, noting that the Kingdom of Morocco aims for fruitful relations with South countries, following the wise vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may Allah glorify and assist him. The Speaker added that the Kingdom intends that such relations be good with the countries of South America, including the Republic of Guatemala. 

The two parties also discussed parliamentary relations, as they both called for activating the parliamentary friendship group created in July 2022, as a mechanism to advance cooperation between the two legislative institutions. 

It should be noted that the House of Representatives holds the status of "observer member" within several South American regional parliamentary fora, including the Central American Parliament (PARLACEN) and the Forum of Speakers of Legislative Assemblies in Central America and the Caribbean (FOPREL).
