Speaker of the House of Representatives Holds Talks with Delegation of the Czech Parliament

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami held talks on Monday, March 20, 2023, at the seat of the House in Rabat, with a Czech parliamentary delegation, including the members of the Parliamentary Committee on European Affairs at the Czech Chamber of Deputies, and headed by the Deputy Speaker of the Czech Chamber of Deputies, Mr. Jan Skopeček, currently on a working visit to the Kingdom of Morocco.

During the meeting, the Deputy Speaker of the Czech Chamber of Deputies, Mr. Jan Skopeček commended the strength of the friendship and cooperation bonds linking the two countries. He also added that the Kingdom of Morocco is a stability pole in the region and noted the existence of several opportunities that must be seized to reinforce economic, tourism, and cultural exchange between the two countries. In this respect, he said, "the Kingdom of Morocco is a strategic ally of the Czech Republic.”

On the same occasion, the Czech parliamentary delegation stressed the importance the Czech Republic grants to relations with the Kingdom of Morocco and the imperative of developing said relations and expanding cooperation to cover other areas, particularly green economy, clean energy, industry, education, health, migration, and other areas.

For his part, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami lauded the distinguished ties linking the legislative institutions of the two countries. In the same regard, he noted that the two Houses are connected by an institutional twinning project and share membership in several regional, continental, and international parliamentary organizations.

Moreover, the Speaker shed light on the major projects launched by the Kingdom of Morocco under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God glorify him, in the areas of economic, social, and cultural development, promotion of the conditions of the human element, reinforcing democracy, human rights, and the Rule of Law, advancement of women’s conditions, and entrenchment of the values of peace, religious tolerance, and coexistence, in addition to all areas related to exhaustive development in its various dimensions.

The meeting was attended from the Czech side by H.E. Ladislav Skerik, Ambassador of the Czech Republic to the Kingdom of Morocco, and the members of the Parliamentary Committee on European Affairs at the Czech Chamber of Deputies: Mr. Ondrej Benesik (Chair of the Committee), Mr. Petr Fifka (Vice-Chair of the Committee), Ms. Jana Berkovcová, Ms. Andrea Babisová.

The meeting also featured the presence of the Chairperson of the Morocco-Czech Republic Parliamentary Friendship Group, Rep. Houssain Ben Taieb.
