Speaker of the House of Representatives Holds Talks with Chairperson of the UK-Morocco Parliamentary Friendship Group

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami, received on Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at the seat of the House in Rabat, the Chairperson of the UK-Morocco Parliamentary Friendship Group, MP. Heather Wheeler, currently on a working visit to the Kingdom of Morocco from April 10 to 14, 2023.

The talks covered the valuation of the historically and culturally deep-rooted ties linking the two countries. Besides, the two parties discussed the means to consolidate parliamentary cooperation through the institutionalization of bilateral and multilateral relations, continuous communication, the creation of dialogue and exchange spaces, in addition to the sharing of experiences and expertise. The two parties also shed light on the parliamentary experiences of both countries and tackled several questions of mutual concern.

During the encounter, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami and MP. Heather Wheeler commended the distinguished relations linking the two Kingdoms and the fruitful cooperation binding the Moroccan and British Parliaments, in addition to the excellent partnership that the House of Representatives entertains with the Westminster Foundation for Democracy, enabling them to exchange experiences and expertise and explore the parliamentary system of the United Kingdom.

The talks between the Speaker of the House and the Chairperson of the UK-Morocco Parliamentary Friendship Group were also an opportunity to exchange views on several regional, continental, and international questions of mutual concern.

It should be noted that the Chairperson of the UK-Morocco Parliamentary Friendship Group will hold a series of meetings with Moroccan officials and will perform field visits to get acquainted with the national political and parliamentary experience and explore the major projects the Kingdom of Morocco has launched, with a view to establishing a constructive and lasting dialogue between the parliamentarians of the two countries.
