Speaker of the House of Representatives Holds Talks with Chairperson of the Foreign Affairs Committee in the National Assembly of Hungary

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami, held talks on Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at the seat of the House, with the Chairperson of the Foreign Affairs Committee in the National Assembly of Hungary, Mr. Zsolt Németh, and his entourage, currently on a working visit to the Kingdom of Morocco on June 5-9, 2023, where he will meet several officials and perform fields visits to explore the major projects launched by the Kingdom of Morocco under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God glorify him.

The delegation of the National Assembly of Hungary includes Mr. Zsigmond Barna Pál, the Deputy Chairperson of the Foreign Affairs Committee; Mr. Robert Furies, the Head of Cabinet of the Chairperson of the Committee; and Ms. Anna Lffler, Assistant to the Chairperson of the Committee.

In their talks, the two parties commended the relations linking the Moroccan House of Representatives and the Hungarian National Assembly. They also praised the relations between the two countries at several levels, particularly economy and culture, stressing the importance of their consolidation by supporting investments, tourism, and direct flights. The meeting was also an opportunity to note the importance of parliamentary diplomacy in consolidating dialogue, consultation, and coordination on mutual concern questions.

Besides, the two parties stressed the importance of mutual respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the two countries. On occasion, the Chairperson of the Foreign Affairs Committee in the Hungarian National Assembly expressed his support for the autonomy proposal presented by the Kingdom of Morocco as a solution to the conflict over the Sahara as a credible and realistic solution following the principles and resolutions of the United Nations. In the same regard, Mr. Zsolt Németh expressed his support for the Moroccan proposal at the various regional and international fora.

For his part, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami, thanked the Chairperson of the Foreign Affairs Committee in the Hungarian National Assembly for supporting the territorial integrity of the Kingdom and the autonomy proposal it presented. He also commended the excellent ties linking the two countries.

Moreover, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami highlighted the gains achieved by the Kingdom of Morocco and the major projects it launched under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God protect him, which have enabled the Kingdom to become a land of security and stability in the region and a role model in several areas.

The meeting featured the presence of the Ambassador of the Republic of Hungary to Morocco, H.E. Miklós Tromler, and the Chairperson of the Morocco-Hungary Parliamentary Friendship Group, Rep. Abdelfattah El Aouni.
