Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami received on Tuesday, February 28, 2023, at the seat of the House in Rabat, a Canadian parliamentary delegation involving Mr. René Villemure, the Deputy Chairperson of the Canadian Representation at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Francophonie and the Representation members: Mr. Joël Godin and Ms. Marie-France Lalonde.
The Canadian parliamentary delegation is visiting the Kingdom of Morocco to participate in the meetings of the Network of Women Parliamentarians and the Committee on Parliamentary Affairs under the Parliamentary Assembly of the Francophonie, hosted by the Moroccan Parliament on March 1-3, 2023.
During their talks, the Speaker of the House of Representatives and the Canadian parliamentary delegation commended the quality of the bilateral and multilateral parliamentary ties linking the Kingdom of Morocco and Canada, which have been solidified in recent years via cooperation agreements, exchanged visits, and intensification of communication, consultation, and coordination, especially on questions of mutual concern like migration, security, fight against terrorism, digital transformation, climate change, protection of the environment, green economy, commercial exchange, investments, tourism, education, and schooling.
Besides, the meeting also focused on the importance of parliamentary coordination through constant consultation and coordination. The two parties also shed light on the peculiarities of their respective parliamentary experiences. In this respect, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami highlighted the pioneering experience of the Kingdom of Morocco at all levels under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God glorify and assist him, particularly his directives on the management of COVID-19 and its repercussions.
Moreover, the Speaker of the House of Representatives and the Canadian parliamentary delegation also tackled the level of cooperation between the two Parliaments, which encompasses matters like public policies and the exchange of experiences and expertise.
The reception by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami of the Canadian parliamentary delegation was also a significant opportunity to exchange views on several questions of parliamentary priority.
