Speaker of the House of Representatives Holds Talks with Austrian Federal Minister for European and International Affairs

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami held talks on Friday, December 16, 2022, in Vienna, with the Austrian Federal Minister for European and International Affairs, Mr. Alexander Schallenberg. The talks were part of the visit of Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami to the Republic of Austria on December 14-17, 2022, at the invitation of his counterpart, the Speaker of the Austrian National Council.

During the meeting, the two parties commended the bilateral relations between the two countries, which date back 240 years. They also discussed the parliamentary, economic, and cultural ties linking the two countries and the roles of the Moroccan House of Representatives and the Austrian National Council in consolidating continuous coordination, communication, and dialogue.

On the same occasion, the Speaker of the House of Representatives noted the institutional and constitutional evolution of the Kingdom of Morocco, the projects it has launched, and its achievements, particularly in the reinforcement of the rule of law and human rights, management of migration, consolidation of democratic practice, human development, social protection, renewable energies, and digital transition, under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may Allah glorify and assist him.

Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami also shed light on the developments of the territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Morocco and the international support to Moroccan sovereignty over its southern provinces, which witness significant development at all levels. In the same respect, the Speaker of the House highlighted the legislative elections of September 2021, which featured high participation rates of the population of the southern provinces.

The meeting between the Speaker of the House of Representatives and the Austrian Federal Minister for European and International Affairs was also an opportunity to tackle several regional and international questions of mutual concern.
