Speaker of the House of Representatives Habib El Malki held a meeting on Tuesday, May 5th, 2020, with the chairpersons of the parliamentary groups and caucus. The meeting was devoted to the agenda of the House.
Regarding the organization of the weekly plenary sessions for oral questions, the participants presented an assessment of the current exceptional stage marked by the state of public health emergency. In this respect, they noted the effectiveness of the preventive measures adopted, and the significance of the themes addressed in the weekly sessions. They also renewed their pride in the solidarity shown by Moroccan people to cope with the pandemic.
The participants also presented an analysis of the management and organization of the plenary sessions, intending to ensure that the measures taken by the public authorities are fully covered and discussed in a suitable time.
Regarding the agenda of weekly plenary sessions, the participants decided to include the industry, trade, green and digital economy sector following the format of questions followed by a debate. The deputies will address their questions on the productive sectors, mainly the industrial, commercial, service, and entrepreneurial sectors to the concerned minister. The questions will also cover the impact of the pandemic on domestic businesses and the domestic and foreign trade sectors, as well as the measures the Government intends to implement to assist enterprises and to achieve the objectives of the plan to accelerate industrial development.
The meeting also tackled the management of the next plenary sessions. In this context, all the House's components expressed their keenness to identify better conditions for their success at both thematic and procedural levels. Thus, the participants decided that their next meeting will tackle time management and the precautionary measures accompanying the convention of the sessions.
Concerning the monthly plenary session devoted to questions on general policy addressed to the Head of Government, the participants set Monday, May 18th, as the date to hold it. The topic of the session will be "The Government's Plan for lifting the lockdown."
