Speaker of House of Representatives Habib El Malki held a meeting with the chairpersons of the parliamentary groups and caucus on Monday, November 9th, 2020. The meeting was devoted to control, legislation, and the House’s work program.

At the start of the meeting, Speaker of House of Representatives Habib El Malki and the chairpersons of the parliamentary groups and caucus expressed their pride regarding the contents of the Royal speech delivered on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of the glorious green march, where His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, highlighted the acquisitions and achievements the Kingdom of Morocco has reached under his wise leadership in refuting the outdated separatist doctrines and in gaining the support of the international community for the initiative of autonomy of the southern provinces under the Moroccan sovereignty.

The House’s Speaker and its components lauded the continuous efforts of Morocco under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI in developing the southern provinces, promoting investment on their lands, developing their geographical zone, advancing maritime fisheries, and reinforcing tourist attraction, within an atmosphere marked by trust as the major international powers adopt constructive positions through concluding economic and strategic partnerships that cover unreservedly and invariably the southern provinces of the Kingdom as an integral part of the Moroccan territory.

The Speaker and the House’s components reiterated their call to the nation’s representatives to defend the territorial integrity of the Kingdom and address the desperate maneuvers that are still bound to misconceptions and backward-looking convictions that hinder the construction of the Great Maghreb and squander many opportunities for development, progress, and prosperity.

As for control, the participants in the meeting discussed the schedule of the second half of November, through including the sectors of foreign affairs, justice, energy, and mining in the sitting scheduled for November 16th, and the sectors of endowments and Islamic affairs, health, solidarity, and childhood in the sitting scheduled for November 23rd, 2020. The participants also affirmed their will to reinstate the provisions of Article 152 of the Rules of Procedure by allowing the inclusion of two requests at the end of each sitting devoted to responding to the deputies' questions on urgent issues.

The meeting also debated the House's work program and the work pace within the standing committees, especially in examining draft sub-budgets. Besides, it discussed the period devoted to the general discussion of the 2021 Draft Finance Bill and the draft sub-budgets.
