The main topics of the meeting
Speaker of House of Representatives Habib El Malki held a meeting with the chairpersons of the parliamentary groups and caucus on Monday, November 2nd, 2020. The meeting was devoted to topics related to the national cause and the House's legislative and control work program.
On the occasion of the celebration by the Moroccan people of the anniversary of the glorious green march, and following the issuance of Resolution 2548 by the UN Security Council concerning the Moroccan Sahara, the Speaker of the House of Representatives and all its components reaffirmed the national consensus around the just national cause, stressing the wisdom of Morocco's decisive and firm diplomatic approach under the insightful leadership of HM King Mohammed VI in facing of the erroneous statements and irresponsible acts of the foes of the territorial integrity of Morocco.
Concerning Resolution 2548 issued recently by the UN Security Council, the House’s Speaker and components affirmed that the resolution dispels all doubts regarding the commitment of the international community for a realistic, pragmatic, and durable political solution and its support for the Moroccan initiative of granting the southern provinces extensive autonomy under the Moroccan sovereignty.
Besides, the House’s Speaker and its components recalled with pride the continuous efforts of Morocco in development and the increasing international recognition expressed through the growing opening of consulates general in the southern provinces.
They also expressed their pride over the global mobilization and the full engagement of all the nation's active forces in defending the national constants, on top of which the just national cause.
As for the evolution of the epidemiological situation and the pandemic’s rapid propagation, the House’s Speaker stressed the imperative of joining the forces of the House components to pursue their work with utmost caution, especially in a period where the House witnesses a thick pace of work within standing committees.
Additionally, the participants noted the effectiveness of the House's approach since the start of the sanitary lockdown and the state of health emergency, and the measures adopted following collective consensus.
As for control, the participants in the meeting discussed consolidating the coverage of public opinion concerns within the legislative institution via the weekly oral questions by including the urgent and pressing topical matters that need to be addressed.
The chairpersons of the parliamentary groups and caucus stressed the imperative of implementing a methodology that puts this pressing parliamentary concern into action, both by responding to the requests for discussing general and urgent topics and by including topical questions at the start of each sitting.
