Speaker of House of Representatives Holds Meeting with Chairpersons of Parliamentary Groups and Caucus on Monday, May 24, 2021

Main topics of the meeting: Morocco-Spain relations and the Palestinian cause

Speaker of House of Representatives Habib El Malki held a meeting with the chairpersons of the parliamentary groups and caucus. The meeting discussed mainly :

The latest developments of the Morocco-Spain relations, the just Palestinian cause and questions regarding control and legislation

At the start of the meeting, the Speaker and the House of components recalled the reasons for the current crisis marking the Morocco-Spain relations, which are the entry of the so-called "Ibrahim Ghali" to the Spanish territory using a fake identity and falsified passport without notifying the Kingdom. The House components considered this a provocative unfriendly action towards Morocco who cooperates with Spain on several security, economic, and political levels.

The House’s Speaker and its components added that the Spanish diplomacy, and instead of answering Morocco's questions on the matter and preserving the quality of the bilateral relations, insists on ambiguity and aggravating the crisis, especially that the concerned person is wanted by the Spanish justice, which exacerbates the situation and threatens the future of the Morocco-Spain relations. The participants also noted the statements that undermine the territorial integrity of the Kingdom and other statements that deliberately ignore the positive roles played by Morocco in solving many global problems, including migration and security.

Besides, the House components noted with great surprise and concern the unprecedented statements that try to decontextualize the crisis and bring out other topics in desperate attempts to involve the European Union, which countries enjoy cooperation relations marked with mutual respect with Morocco.

The Speaker and the House components later discussed the position of the Palestinian cause in the hearts of Moroccans and the support of Morocco, its King, government, and people, to the Palestinian people in all tough junctures. The participants also noted the positions of the Kingdom regarding the recent events and violence against Palestinians. They also reviewed the role of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God protect him, as Chairman of Al-Quds Committee, and his endeavors upon the escalation of military violence and constant efforts to put an end to it and to realize the righteous demands of Palestinians in freedom and dignity and the construction of an independent state. The Speaker and the House components expressed their satisfaction with installing a ceasefire to prevent bloodshed.

As regards the House’s action, the participants deliberated on topics that concern control and its consolidation, in addition to the House’s legislative work program.
