Speaker of the House of Representatives Discusses Intensifying and Diversifying Parliamentary Cooperation with the Ambassador of the Republic of Chile

Speaker of the House of Representatives Rachid Talbi El Alami received on Wednesday, February 23, 2022, at the House, the Ambassador of the Republic of Chile to the Kingdom of Morocco, H.E. Rafael Puelma Claro.

At the outset of the meeting, the Ambassador of the Republic of Chile thanked Mr. Rachid Talbi El Alami for the reception and congratulated him on his election to the Speakership of the House of Representatives. In the same respect, he lauded the gains achieved by the Kingdom of Morocco and its leadership in several areas. The Chilean Ambassador also highlighted the good parliamentary ties between the two countries at the bilateral and multilateral levels. In this context, he expressed his country's aspiration to consolidate these ties in the economic and commercial areas and that Rabat and Santiago have registered progress in this regard.

H.E. Rafael Puelma Claro noted that the two countries share several interests, mainly renewable energies and climate change. In addition, he underlined that his country's orientations focus on further openness to such questions, which form a priority to the Kingdom of Morocco. The Chilean Diplomat added that the Parliamentarians from both countries could play a key role through consolidating communication and dialogue and institutionalizing constant coordination.

For his part, Speaker of the House of Representatives Rachid Talbi El Alami thanked the Ambassador of the Republic of Chile for the visit. The Speaker also praised the excellent Morocco-Chile ties, characterized by mutual understanding, the preservation of shared realized political gains, and the aspiration towards building strategic links between Rabat and Santiago in a way that reflects the depth of their historical bonds.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives hailed the quality of the bilateral and multilateral Morocco-Chile parliamentary ties. In this respect, he noted that the House of Representatives is open to all constructive initiatives and parliamentary questions of common concern, namely climate change, renewable energies and technological evolution.

Mr. Rachid Talbi El Alami affirmed that he is willing to advance the Morocco-Chile bilateral and multilateral parliamentary ties to higher levels that would unify their positions and views on shared parliamentary questions and create novel spaces for bilateral and regional cooperation.
