Speaker of the House of Representatives and Speaker of the Azeri National Assembly Discuss Advancement of Parliamentary Cooperation between the Two Institutions

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami, held talks on Thursday, December 14, 2023, at the Seat of the House in Rabat, with the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Hon. Sahiba Gafarova, currently leading an important delegation on an official visit to our country.

During the meeting, the two parties expressed their strong desire to consolidate and advance parliamentary cooperation between the legislative institutions of the two countries and to reinforce coordination and consultation between them at the bilateral and multilateral levels in a way that serves the common interests of both countries.

On occasion, the Speaker of the House of Representatives underscored the depth of the strong historical bonds linking the two countries and their friendly peoples. In the same vein, he noted that this visit would give strong impetus to the already good bilateral cooperation between the two countries and their legislative institutions.

Besides, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami reiterated his appreciation for the positive and supportive position of the Republic of Azerbaijan regarding the question of the Moroccan Sahara and the territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Morocco and its continuous support to it in the various regional and international parliamentary fora.

For her part, the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Azerbaijan stressed the importance of advancing the bilateral ties between her country and the Kingdom of Morocco and working on coordinating their positions to serve their common interests.

On the same occasion, Hon. Sahiba Gafarova extended an invitation to the Speaker of the House of Representatives to perform an official visit to the Republic of Azerbaijan, noting her firm desire to strengthen parliamentary cooperation between the two legislative institutions through intensifying the exchange of experiences and expertise in parliamentary action, parliamentary administration, and e-Parliament.

The meeting was also attended by the Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Rabat, H.E. Nazim Adil Oglu Samadov, and the members of the delegation of the Azeri National Assembly, namely the Chairperson of the Regional Affairs Committee, MP Siyavush Novruzov; the Chairperson of the Work Group in charge of Azerbaijan-Morocco Parliamentary Relations, MP İmamverdi İsmayılov; and the Chairperson of the Economic Affairs Committee, MP Aghalar Valivey.
