Speaker of the House of Representatives Rachid Talbi Alami received on Wednesday, November 10, 2021, Armando Barucco, Ambassador of the Republic of Italy to the Kingdom of Morocco.
At the onset of the meeting, the Ambassador expressed his thanks to the Speaker of the House of Representatives for the warm reception. He also stressed that his courtesy visit is intended to congratulate Mr. Rachid Talbi Alami on his election as Speaker of the House of Representatives and discuss ways to strengthen parliamentary relations at two levels. The first is bilateral and concerns friendship groups and the consolidation of bonds between the Foreign Affairs Committees within the Houses of Representatives of the two countries. Meanwhile, the second level is multilateral and covers coordination with the various regional and international parliamentary unions.
The Ambassador of the Republic of Italy commended the Royal initiatives and the wise and pioneering management by the Kingdom of Morocco of the pandemic of Covid-19. The meeting of the Speaker of the House of Representatives was also an opportunity for Armando Barucco to reiterate the good quality of the Morocco-Italy ties. In this respect, he expressed his country's support and defense of the vital interests and territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Morocco. The Ambassador added that Rome aspires to promote its links with Rabat in the field of renewable energies, an axis characterized by the convergence of Moroccan and Italian policies due to the limited natural resources.
For his part, Speaker of the House of Representatives Rachid Talbi Alami thanked the Italian Ambassador for the visit and lauded the distinguished level of the Morocco-Italy relations. He also praised Rome's commitment to the territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Morocco, its defense of the vital interests of Rabat inside and outside Europe, and in the various international fora.
The Speaker of the House of Representatives seized the opportunity to praise the Morocco-Italy bilateral and multilateral parliamentary relations. In this vein, he noted that he would invite his Italian counterparts to visit the House of Representatives in the coming months to discuss the various issues of mutual interest and create new platforms for reflection, debate, dialogue and parliamentary coordination.
