On the sidelines of the 61st Session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (PABSEC), held in Ankara in the Republic of Türkiye, Serbia reiterated on Thursday, May 4, 2023, its support for the territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Morocco.
The Speaker of the Serbian National Assembly, Hon. Vladimir Orlić, noted during his talks with the Speaker of the House of Representatives and President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union for the Mediterranean (PA-UfM), Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami, stressed Serbia’s continuous support to the principle of respect to the territorial sovereignty of States, commending the similar position of the Kingdom of Morocco in support of the territorial integrity of Serbia.
During the meeting, attended by the Ambassador of the His Majesty to the Republic of Türkiye, H.E. Mohammed Ali Lazreq, the Speaker of the Serbian National Assembly commended the 65 year-old bilateral relations linking the two countries, particularly between their two legislative institutions. In the same regard, he praised the cooperation between the two countries in various fields.
On the same occasion, Hon. Vladimir Orlić underscored the enormous opportunities for advancing bilateral cooperation further, particularly in investment. The Serbian Official also lauded the advancement of the Kingdom of Morocco in various areas, and stressed the importance of consolidating parliamentary cooperation and exchanging experiences and expertise at the bilateral and multilateral levels.
For his part, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami, stressed the Kingdom’s constant commitment to the principle of sovereignty and territorial integrity of States, lauding Belgrade’s position on the Moroccan Sahara.
During the same meeting, the Speaker underscored the convergence of views between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Serbia on several regional and international questions. The Speaker also shed light on the various major transformations in the Kingdom under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God glorify him, which transformed the Kingdom into one of the rarest African States that enjoy political, economic, and social stability. Besides, he stressed the importance of joint action and mutual support within the international parliamentary organizations and gatherings, noting the opportunities for the exchange of experiences and expertise between the Moroccan House of Representatives and the Serbian National Assembly, as well as between the PA-UfM and the PABSEC.
The Speaker also seized the opportunity to invite his Serbian counterpart to take part in the parliamentary summit on religious dialogue, to be held in Marrakesh next June.
It should be noted that the 61st Session of the PABSEC kicked off on Thursday, May 4, 2023, in Ankara.
The two-day Session will cover the horizons and challenges of the PABSEC that commemorates this year its 30th anniversary. The participants will also discuss the role of national legislative institutions in consolidating peace and stability and promoting economic growth and other relevant themes.
