The Moroccan Representative Laila Dahi was elected on Saturday, July 2, 2022, Chairperson of the Youth Caucus within the Pan-African Parliament (PAP), as part of the Ordinary Session of the Fifth Legislative Term of the PAP, held from June 27 to July 2 in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Speaking on this occasion, Rep. Dahi, from the Group of the National Rally of Independents in the  Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra region, noted her pride at getting the confidence of African parliamentarians to represent youth in PAP. She also stated that would spare no effort in carrying out this difficult mission.

On Wednesday, Fortune Zephania Charumbira of Zimbabwe, representing the Southern African Caucus, was elected as the new PAP President by the members of the Ad Hoc Committee appointed by the five regional caucuses.

The election of Charumbira put an end to the unfortunate events that occurred in June 2021, during the aborted elections of the Bureau of the Parliament, which brought the image of this institution into disrepute.

The Moroccan delegation to this new Session of the PAP was composed of Rep. Laila Dahi (Group of the National Rally of Independents), Rep. Aydi Youssef (Socialist Group), Rep. Abdessamad Haiker (Parliamentary Caucus of Justice and Development), Rep. Khadija Arouhal (Group of Progress and Socialism), and Cllr. Abahnini Mohamed (General Union of Moroccan Workers).
