Speaker of the House of Representatives Mr. Habib El Malki held talks on Wednesday, January 15th at the House of Representatives with Rwandan State Secretary for the East African Community Mr. Olivier Nduhungirehe, currently on a working visit to Morocco.
During the meeting, Speaker of the House of Representatives lauded the excellent ties linking the parliaments of both countries, which “reflect the closeness between Morocco and Rwanda on all levels, a result of the strong determination of the leaders of both countries, HM King Mohammed VI and HE President Paul Kagame.”
Mr. El Malki affirmed that Morocco and Rwanda, ardent advocates of the cooperative African action, are keen to foster South-South Cooperation and promote unity between African countries. In this respect, he highlighted that the greater Maghreb region still undergoes the remnants of the cold war, during which the artificial conflict around the Moroccan Sahara was created, noting that the region’s peoples are eager for settling the said conflict, and founding a new Maghreb.
For his part, State Secretary for the East African Community stated that his visit to the Kingdom is part of consolidating the bilateral relations linking the two countries. He added that “since the visit of HM King Mohammed VI to Rwanda in 2016, and the visit of HE President Paul Kagame to Morocco, relations between the two countries have been developing steadily.” He also recalled the several agreements concluded by the two countries in numerous fields of common interest, stressing on both countries’ attachment to their follow-up and implementation.
Mr. Olivier Nduhungirehe also commended the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI in Africa, expressing Rwanda’s respect for the sovereignty of the Kingdom of Morocco. He also mentioned his country’s keenness to strengthen cooperation ties with the Kingdom of Morocco.
