Morocco-Jordan Parliamentary Friendship Group Holds Talks with Ambassador of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to Rabat

The members of the Morocco-Jordan Parliamentary Friendship Group, chaired by Rep. Khadija Arouhal (Group of Progress and Socialism), received on Thursday, February 29, 2024, the Ambassador of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to the Kingdom of Morocco, H.E. Jumana Suleiman Ghunaimat.

At the onset of the meeting, the members of the Morocco-Jordan Parliamentary Friendship Group underscored the quality and strength of the ties linking the Kingdom of Morocco and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan at all levels, adding that said relations have witnessed positive momentum in recent years. They also praised the aspects of convergence and similarity between the two Kingdoms and noted their desire for this meeting to set a roadmap for advancing ties between the Moroccan and Jordanian Houses of Representatives.

During the meeting, the Chairperson of the Morocco-Jordan Parliamentary Friendship Group recalled the fruitful visit performed by the members of the Jordanian House of Representatives to the Kingdom of Morocco in September 2022, and noted the keenness to implement the conclusions of the visit.

For her part, H.E. Jumana Suleiman Ghunaimat noted that the parliamentary ties between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan are deep-rooted and distinguished. She added that her country aspires to reinforce said relations through bilateral visits, the Friendship Groups, and continuous parliamentary coordination.

The Ambassador also expressed her desire to reinforce cooperation in culture between the two countries and gave an overview of the Jordanian media education plan she established during her mandate as Minister of Information. She also showed keenness in laying the ground for a visit of the Morocco-Jordan Parliamentary Friendship Group members to the Hashemite Kingdom at the soonest convenience.

In addition to the Chairperson of the Group, the meeting featured the presence of two Group members: Rep. Abdennour Hasnaoui (Socialist Group – Ittihadi Opposition) and Rep. Hind Bennani (Parliamentary Caucus of Justice and Development).
