Morocco-Chile Parliamentary Friendship Groups Hold Talks at the House of Representatives

Chairperson of the Morocco-Chile Parliamentary Friendship Group at the House of Representatives Mr. Cherkaoui Znaydi held talks on Wednesday, February 5th at the House’s headquarters, with his Chilean counterpart Gonzalo Fuenzalida Figueroa, currently on a visit to Morocco.

The Chilean Parliamentary delegation includes, in addition to Mr. Gonzalo Fuenzalida Figueroa, Deputy Marisela Del Carmen Santibanez Novoa, Deputy Pablo Esteban Vidal Rojas, and Deputy Cicardini Milla Daniella Valentina.

The talks discussed the consolidation of bilateral relations between the two countries, mainly in the economic, social, and cultural sectors.

During the meeting, Mr. Cherkaoui Znaydi expressed his hopes that the Parliamentary Friendship Group works to advance relations between the two countries and to benefit from each country’s expertise. In this respect, he noted that Chile had made significant strides in economy and democracy.

He also commended the visit performed by the Chilean Parliamentary delegation to the Kingdom’s southern regions to review the development and prospect achieved there and to witness the cultural and geographical diversity of our country.

In their statements, members of the Morocco-Chile Parliamentary Friendship group Mr. Mohamed Fadili and Mr. Mohamed Al-Hafid, who attended the meeting, noted the vital role that Chile plays in Latin America thanks to its democratic experience and important economic assets, just like Morocco in Africa. They added that they aspire for further consolidation of bilateral relations between Morocco and Chile, and implementation of the agreements concluded between the two countries.

For his part, Chairperson of Chile-Morocco Parliamentary Friendship Group Mr. Gonzalo Fuenzalida Figueroa noted that the visit performed to Morocco’s southern provinces by the delegation helped them acquire more details, especially through the meetings they held with officials and representatives of said provinces. He also noted that there will be shared challenges between the two countries, namely ones concerning energy development and democracy.

The Parliamentary delegation also commended the efforts of Moroccan diplomacy to advance bilateral relations between the two countries towards more cooperation and solidarity.
