Moroccan Parliamentary Delegation Participates in 19th Winter Meeting of OSCE Parliamentary Assembly

A Moroccan parliamentary delegation took part in the activities of the 19th Winter Meeting of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe Parliamentary Assembly, which took place in Hofburg Palace in Vienna, Austria, on February 20-21st. The Meeting was attended by representatives of parliaments members of the Assembly (353 members), representatives of parliaments of States Partners for Co-operation, and several regional and world parliamentary organizations who participated as observers.

The Meeting was devoted to present the headlines of the reports of the Assembly’s three General Committees, which will be presented and discussed during the Assembly’s next annual session. The Meeting also discussed several critical topical questions relating to international politics. The issues were mainly related to cooperation in security, mass migration, environment, gender equality, democracy, human rights protection in times of crisis, and freedom of the press.

The activities of the 19th Winter Meeting of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly took place in four sessions over two days. The agenda of the Meeting included meetings of the Assembly’s Standing Committee and its three General Committees, which are the Committee on Democracy, Human Rights and Humanitarian Questions, Committee on Economic Affairs, Science, Technology and Environment, and Committee on Political Affairs and Security.

It should be noted that the Moroccan Parliament was represented in this Meeting by a delegation that involved the members of the National Section at the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly. The delegation included five parliamentarians, among which three Deputies: Touriya Faraj, Group of Authenticity and Modernity; Mohamed El Milahi, Socialist Group; Jamal Benchekroun Krimi, Parliamentary Caucus of Progress and Socialism. The delegation also included two Councilors: Mohammed Bakkouri, Chairperson of the Group of National Rally of Independents, and Abdelkarim Al Hams, Chairperson of the Group of Authenticity and Modernity.
