Moroccan Parliamentary Delegation Arrives in Indonesia and Takes Part in Coordination Meetings of Geopolitical Groups

A high-level delegation from the Moroccan Parliament, headed by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Rachid Talbi El Alami, and including the members of the national representation at the Inter-Parliamentary Union, arrived on Friday, March 18, 2022, in Nusa Dua, Indonesia. The Ambassador of His Majesty to the Republics of Indonesia and Singapore and officers of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco in Jakarta received the Moroccan delegation.

The Moroccan Parliamentary delegation, headed by Mr. Rachid Talbi El Alami, will participate in the 144th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union and the 209th Session of the IPU's Governing Council and related meetings, which the Indonesian Parliament will host in Nusa Dua on March 20-24, 2022.

The Moroccan representation at the Inter-Parliamentary Union will represent the Moroccan Parliament in the coordination meetings of the Geopolitical Groups, mainly the Arab and African groups, held on Saturday and Sunday, March 19-20, 2022. The meetings will debate several timely parliamentary and organizational questions, such as the mobilization of parliaments to work on climate change, the construction of the peace process, the consolidation of lasting peace, utilization of information and communication technologies as an enabler in the education sector, especially in times of the pandemic, as well as other administrative and procedural matters related to the IPU bodies.

The agenda of the Moroccan parliamentary delegation also includes numerous meetings with heads of assemblies and delegations taking part in the 144th IPU Assembly to consolidate bilateral and multilateral parliamentary cooperation.

The national representation at the Inter-Parliamentary Union comprises Rep. Ahmed Touizi (Chairperson of the Group of Authenticity and Modernity), Rep. Khadouj Slassi (Socialist Group), Cllr. Kamal Ait Mik (Group of the National Rally of Independents), and Cllr. Hassan Chamis (Group of Authenticity and Modernity).
